Grumble – Middle Dutch to murmur or grunt

I have had a request for the etymology of the word ‘Grumble’, which is a lovely word for a complaint or moan.

The etymology of ‘Grumble’ can’t be said for certain but it is thought to be from the Middle French ‘Grommeler’ and originally from the Middle Dutch ‘Grommele’ which meant to murmur or grunt.
